Life of a traveler is a lot easier than you think. Nowadays, there are resources readily available with a simple web search. Whether you are traveling solo, with a partner, group of friends, or family, there is something for everyone. Books, travel blogs, Youtube videos that offer you free information on where to go, what to see, and how to do it for less.
It is better to travel than not to go and regret it. What is holding you back? Once you answer this question for yourself, think of a solution. What can you do to resolve this? If you don’t come up with the answer, then nothing will change in your life. It will be the same daily activities.
Everyday life is great, things are organized. You already know your plans for the week, weekend and so on. Traveling, however, takes you outside of this routine you are so used to. It encourages you to think in creative ways. It teaches you valuable life lessons and experiences that your daily life can’t offer you. You come in contact with people from various backgrounds, different cultures, foods, ways of life. You get to look at your daily life from the side as if you were an unbiased spectator. You learn more about yourself because traveling promotes thinking in new ways.
Do you think you will regret traveling? How about you commit to traveling and then decide if all that you learned by leaving your familiar routine was worth it.
Here are just a few examples of what you can gain: life-changing experiences, fresh perspective on your daily life, friends from different parts of the world, new creative solutions for making your life more enjoyable.
Do not let this opportunity to slip by, don’t allow fear to control your life. The unknown that waits for you during your journey and at your destination will inspire you to live your best life.

Ever since I was little, I have been traveling with my dad due to his job. Most people will think that he is in the military, but that is not true! My dad is actually a comedy juggler, and gets to perform all over the world!
I have not flown as often as he has or been to as many places as him, but I have traveled with him a lot. Traveling as often as I have has given me the chance to fly in an airplane for short and long distances. Not many people enjoy this, but I actually did not mind it!
Flying gave me the opportunity to watch the flight attendants and start dreaming that it was something that I would probably enjoy doing myself! However, when I was little, that was when you had to be a certain height and weight to become a flight attendant.
As I got older, my dream started to fade away and I thought that I would never be able to do it!
That is until one day my roommate started dating a guy that was a flight attendant! I started to dream about it again and wanted to ask him how to get into the field. Little did I know, that he had recently quit the airline he was with and started at a new airline that was currently hiring! He sent me the link and I applied, not thinking too much into it. I then went on with my life!
3 months later I received an email with an invitation to a group interview for that airline! I still had my doubts about becoming a flight attendant going into the interview, but as the day (yes, it was a full day) went on, my thoughts about having to have a specific look changed! I learned that the only specifics in being a flight attendant (at least for the airline I was interviewing with) was that you needed to be over 5 feet tall (I am 5’8”), be able to lift 40 pounds above your head and have no visible tattoos!
I am now proud to say that I have been a flight attendant for 3 years with this company and I am so excited to have my dream job!

To so many, being a flight attendant is one’s dream job. From the outside looking in, people see glamour and class, they see the spontaneity of being able to travel the world for free whenever we want, they see our job through rose colored glasses. But in reality, we know those 4 am pick ups, running downstairs to catch the crew van hoping there will be free coffee downstairs only to be disappointed when there isn’t any because who is awake that early. The duty dates full of reroutes and delays, full of frustrated passengers asking if they are going to make their connections and if we will hold the plane for them, and the days full of getting on our hands and knees cleaning up the vomit in the lavatory.
So sometimes the job can be a little less than glamorous, but what if we changed our perspective from the germs and looked at our job as a gift?
As a junior flight attendant, I typically fly 3 to 4 flights a day seeing on average 150 people per flight. That's around 600 people per day, stuck in a metal tube with me for a minimum of 30 minutes of their day!
In today’s time’s we are a generation that can be very ME focused. I challenge you to shift your perspective for the next month on the job to focus on why you really interviewed for this job. Ask yourself, how can I make this person’s day before we land?
It can be a tough challenge to try to do that for every passenger on all of your flights, so pick a few passengers and make some friendships! We all want to be seen in this fast paced world, especially in a career where you are surrounded by people, but sometimes our passengers just need to noticed just as badly.
This job can look glamorous but the real glamour is having the ability to spread kindness. Start the trend with your crew and I promise you, you will feel it in return!

Whether you disclosed it in your face to face interview or not, every flight attendant was born with wanderlust. That’s what drove us to this career to begin with. The thought of being laid out on the beach in Tahiti or trying vintage wine in the vineyards of a Parisian country keeps the “jet fuel” pumping through our veins. I’m pretty sure it came as a shock to you when you first compared how much you worked to your pay stub…. not much was left over to travel with once bills were paid. The truth? Within your first few years of flying this is going to be the case. The trade off to being able to fly anywhere in the world for little to nothing is not having the funds to actually explore the new destination. No worries though! It won’t always be this way and there are ways you can jumpstart this type of financial security. Having a supplemental income is key when the funds aren’t where they need to be!
